The Zhejiang City Tennis League (ZheTA) officially launched on May 10, with the first stop in Jiaxing concluding successfully, according to sources from the Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau.

Dubbed as ZheTA, this marks another city-level ball sports league IP in Zhejiang, following the success of ZheBA and the “Wuyue Cup.” The tournament is divided into two phases: qualifiers and finals. Qualifiers are scheduled for May 10-11 in Jiaxing, September 5-6 in Quzhou, and October 24-25 in Lishui. The finals will feature individual events on November 21-22 and team events on November 28.

After the comeback victory of the 25+ men’s doubles pair Chen Fan and Bao Jiayi on the opening day, the Ningbo team maintained their momentum on the second day, securing championships in the 25+ men’s doubles, 60+ men’s doubles, 80+ women’s doubles, and 80+ mixed doubles events. They also claimed the runner-up spot in the 50+ men’s doubles, showcasing Ningbo’s deep tennis heritage with four titles and one runner-up finish.

Bai Xilin, director of the Tennis Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, praised the launch of the ZheTA event. He stated that it has established a platform for “universal participation, making friends through tennis, pooling energy, inspiring spirit, and promoting mutual learning among civilizations.” This initiative marks a new model for developing China’s mass tennis event system, setting a significant precedent for the nationwide promotion and popularization of tennis, and contributing to the high-quality development of Chinese tennis.
