Two-time Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov has given his assessment of Avangard head coach Guy Boucher’s performance.
The Omsk club lost to Lokomotiv (3-4) in the Gagarin Cup final series, despite holding a 3-1 lead. In Game 6, Avangard led by two goals with just 33 seconds left in the third period, but conceded twice in the 60th minute and lost in overtime. In Game 7, they again led by two goals and again fell in overtime.
“Boucher lost everything. You need to be very talented to lead 2-0 and miss a spot in the final in 33 seconds. He has that talent. Whether to fire him or not is not for me to decide. I’ve said what I think,” Kozhevnikov stated.
